"Without Equal" was five meters away from Little White and Mo Yao. When the two of them were talking, "Without Equal" and Wind Cloud didn't disturb them but consciously kept their distance. She and Little White both made a move at the same time; fortunately, the knife wasn’t stabbed too deeply—only a tiny bit before "Without Equal" pounced on it. A bit of blood seeped from his chest which was already covered in blood stains. Mo Yao and Wind Cloud were caught off guard by this sudden change and failed to react promptly.

Suicide—a word that shouldn’t appear in their dictionaries—so no one would have thought that Little White would choose to end his life himself, not even Mo Yao.

He had always felt that something was off about Little White tonight. Something was very wrong, but he hadn't expected it to be suicide. They could be slowly tortured by their enemies until death as long as they still had a breath of life left. Therefore, Little White wouldn’t commit suicide even when he was in such a state. However, after Mo Yao saved him, he chose to take his own life.

"Without Equal" was heartbroken and furious beyond measure. She pinned one of Little White’s legs down with her leg while pressing the other hand onto his chest. Her purple eyes burned with rage as she suddenly slapped Little White across the face; another slap followed. The only part of Little White that wasn't injured was his face, so "Without Equal" took advantage of Mo Yao's lack of reaction to continuously slap him four times, her voice filled with anger and hatred: "Are you crazy Dare you take your own life in front of us! He can’t hit you, but I will. You damn bastard!"

As she was hitting and scolding him, Mo Yao reacted and hurriedly pushed her away. As "Without Equal" was struggling with Little White, she didn't notice Mo Yao's presence until he pushed her aside. Mo Yao quickly helped Little White up; angrily glaring at "Without Equal," his face was already swollen from the slaps. "Without Equal" shrugged helplessly, showing no signs of remorse.

Little White’s entire body convulsed as tears streamed down his face… His opium addiction had flared up again.

This happened every time he experienced an opium withdrawal: his mind was unclear and he kept crying. Perhaps his drug addiction had already kicked in, but he had been enduring it until he reached a breaking point. Mo Yao helped him inject some medicine; Little White gradually regained consciousness. He stared blankly at Mo Yao for a long while as if he couldn’t understand why he was still alive. The burning pain on his face made him feel confused and miserable; tears filled those beautiful eyes.

Mingyao trembled along with him, staring fiercely into his eyes. Little White didn't want to argue or say anything—closing his eyes, he wanted nothing more than sleep. He seemed like a child who was finally allowed to have a good night's rest, completely ignoring the shock his attempted suicide had caused others. As if nothing happened, he turned around and fell asleep; "Without Equal" was beside herself with fury but Mo Yao’s stern look made her swallow her words.

"Without Equal" wiped tears from her face and walked deep into the forest. Cloud followed anxiously behind her, while Wind remained where they were.

Mingyao continued to stare at him without saying a word; only a hint of sorrow could be seen in his eyes. He gently stroked Little White's swollen, battered face—she had hit hard, causing it to swell up.

He understands that Xiao Bai has already reached his limit.

He didn't die in the cell, but held on to wait for him. If he had died in the cell, he wouldn’t have been able to live with himself throughout his life and might even go mad. He went along with him, yes, there’s no doubt about that. Xiao Bai wouldn’t let this slap remain unresolved until their last moment of life; she didn't want him to carry this burden for a lifetime, so he stayed alive. In reality, Xiao Bai had long wanted to die and said that she couldn't bear it anymore.

He tried his very best to stay alive, which is why he was quiet throughout the journey. Apart from when he experienced withdrawal symptoms, he slept to conserve energy. He also wanted to live and hoped everything would get better.

But now his leg infection has worsened severely. No matter how much he tried to reassure Xiao Bai, deep down, he knew that the infection was very serious; the forest is damp with heavy humidity, and there’s already a hint of poison in the air, accelerating the deterioration of wounds. He knows what he’s endured and what he will endure in the future. He hasn’t broken down yet, but now they are trapped in the forest. If not for him, they could easily walk out of this forest without needing Mo Chen's helicopter to pick them up; now he has become a burden.

He can no longer endure both physical and mental torture as well as the torment knowing that others might risk their lives because of him.

He keeps telling himself to forgive, but he knows that their emotional knot is tied by that slap. Xiao Bai hasn’t truly forgiven him.

He just wants to die without making her miserable, so he pretends to have forgiven him. He lets her believe that he has already forgiven him, thinking that this would make things easier for her, but these last words of his are heartbreaking to Mo Yao.

How could he blame Xiao Bai for not loving him How could she not love him

He always complains about her lack of response even in the moment when he chooses death and doesn't say that he loves her. But if he were honest with himself, does Xiao Bai really not love herself

How is this possible!

He knows it all.

He understood that he didn't have the same kind of rage as Wu Shuang; at that moment, he actually thought that if Xiaobai died, it would bring him relief. He would join him and they could be buried together in this beautiful forest. That would be a good end for them.

But just for an instant, when people are at their darkest moments, some dark thoughts will surface. Still, he wanted Xiaobai to live on.

"Xiaobai, if you die, I'll immediately go with you," Mo Yao said. Xiaobai moved slightly but didn't speak; instead, his body trembled softly. Mo Yao held him tightly and kissed Xiaobai's lips tenderly. "You have no strength at all now, how can you seek death Xiaobai, when you cannot endure anymore, tell me, brother will help you find peace. A bullet will end us both; I won't let you go alone."

Xiaobai sobbed and hugged Mo Yao's waist while burying his head in the embrace to cry. Mo Yao smiled gently and patted Xiaobai’s back softly. Xiaobai twitched, suffering real pain rather than from withdrawal symptoms; his intervals between cravings were too short for that.

Motivated by a fierce resolve, Mo Yao thought once they left this forest, he would make those who had harmed Xiaobai pay dearly, ensuring their lives become unbearable. How could such an innocent person end up in such suffering

"Brother…" Xiaobai called out through tears that wetted Mo Yao's clothes.

Moyao held him silently; Feng turned away with tears in his eyes, unable to bear watching them suffer.

This night was particularly long and torturous.

Helicopters kept circling above, bringing the threat of death while also facing Xiaobai’s mental breakdown. For Wu Shuang and Mo Yao, this was their darkest night, wishing desperately for dawn to come soon.

Their journey through the forest resumed without mentioning Xiaobai's suicide attempts. Even rage-filled Wu Shuang didn't bring it up. They moved quietly in a northeasterly direction.

Before dawn arrived, the atmosphere in the forest changed; an ambush...

They encountered an ambush set by a squad of fifteen soldiers. This small team was hiding motionless in the forest, blending seamlessly with the surroundings and making no sound. As a result, Wu Shuang and Mo Yao did not notice them.

Afraid they were dealing with well-trained army personnel who specialized as special forces, their ambush setup was very effective. However, the only mistake they made was to aim their sniper rifle at Mo Yao; there was no way for him to avoid it while advancing. Whether the bullet hit Wu Shuang or Feng Yun, either would be fatal since nobody was prepared for such an attack.

Mo Yao dodged bullets better than anyone else, even when holding the little white rabbit. Even if a bullet reached them, he could still dodge it with ease. Wu Shuang and Feng Yun quickly separated and found places to hide themselves while raising their alertness levels to maximum.

A burst of gunfire echoed through the jungle. This squad was much more skilled and coordinated than any other small team they had encountered before. The random firing made it difficult to tell how many people were hit.

Mo Yao said in a low voice, "Wu Shuang, lead your team on an assault. Head towards the southeast direction. That area is extremely dangerous but you are most familiar with the terrain there. Draw them away and keep Feng Yun together."

"No way!" Wu Shuang shouted back under the cover of gunfire, "If we all leave, what will happen to you and little white"

"Did you hear the sound of a helicopter" Mo Yao said in a low voice. "There'll be over a hundred paratroopers dropping soon. If we don't leave now, we'll die here. Draw them away, and I'll take little white to head southeast as well."

Frowning, Wu Shuang heard the sound of helicopters getting louder. Eight Black Widows were all gathered in the sky above them. She gritted her teeth and signaled for Feng Yun to follow while heading southeast. Mo Yao remained motionless behind a rock while holding little white.

Wu Shuang and Feng Yun headed towards the southeast direction at an assault pace, especially since those special forces clearly were well-trained and could move freely through the jungle with leaves and branches hiding their presence as they pursued them stealthily like phantoms.

Mo Yao tried to count the number of people. There were ten of them. He waited quietly; once Wu Shuang led everyone away, he had to remain silent and not fire another shot or risk bringing them back again.

Mo Yao put down little white and used a telescope to observe his surroundings. The dawn light was dim, making it extremely difficult to distinguish people from the greenery around him.
